Sketches, experiments and examples.

Sync effect

Here I’m using the POKEY’s 2-tone filter to get a kind of sync effect.

Technical: no samples; 1x/frame
Recording: real hardware, a stock Atari 130 XE.
Tracker: Raster Music Tracker 1.34 by VinsCool.
Visualization: Corrscope.

You can download the Atari 8-bit executable files:

Remember Me?

Just fooling around with 8x/frame instrument speed 😉

Another POKEY chiptune guitar

No samples have been used. Just pure POKEY capabilities. Created in RMT patch 1.8 made by Analmux. It uses E distortion. The guitar riff comes from 'Smoke on the Water’ by Deep Purple of course.

Recording: real hardware, a stock Atari 130 XE.
Tracker: Raster Music Tracker, patch8 by Analmux
Visualization: Corrscope.

Fake POKEY acid

POKEY has no low-pass filter. So no resonance, no cut-off, and no real acid sound. It’s just POKEY acid.

Recording: real hardware, a stock Atari 130 XE.
Tracker: Raster Music Tracker.
Visualization: Corrscope.

Wobbling POKEY

This is not a cover of 'Moment of Stop’ by Dariusz 'Dhor’ Duma. Great tunes should be left as they are. But… It’s just my humble way to express my huge appreciation of Dhor’s innovative approach to POKEY sound design and composition. It has been inspiring me for years.

Recording: real hardware, a stock Atari 130 XE.
Tracker: Raster Music Tracker.
Visualization: Corroscope.

Prism [redux]

I’m just checking my brand new/old 130 XE. The tune 'Prism’ is pretty old (2016). However, it has been slightly rearranged and polished.

Give this POKEY sound a name please

The leading sound is cool I think. But the usage is not so. So it’s just work in regress.
